 COURT RESTRAINS RESIDENT DOCTORS FROM EMBARKING ON STRIKE  The national industrial court Abuja division has restrained all members and agents of the national association of resident doctors from calling, directing, organizing, participating in, and embarking upon any form of industrial action.  Justice Emmanuel Danjuma Subilim gave the order in an interim injunction filed by the federal government through the office of the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice.  The court temporally barred members of the association from embarking on any form of strike, work stoppages, go-slows, picketing, or any other form of industrial protest or disruption. The association is equally restrained from taking steps preparatory to any form of industrial action from the 12th day of january, 2026. LASG OFFERS 64 GRADUANDS OF COLLEGE OF NURSING IMMEDIATE EMPLOYMENT


Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando has recently held its fourth convocation ceremony for 64 Student Nurses, who have been offered employment in the State Public Service by the approval given by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.  

In his address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab stated that the Lagos State Government has continued to commit resources to Vocational and Entrepreneurship Skills Development Programmes to curb the migration of skilled workers, especially in the health sector while promoting youth development.

Wahab, who was represented by the Head of the Standard and Accreditation Department, Office of the Special Adviser on Education, Adepeju Sunmonu, explained that the graduation ceremony is a demonstration of the present administration's commitment to delivering qualitative and quantitative education in line with the third pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Developmental Agenda, which is Education and Technology.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Provost, Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, Mrs. Oyefunso Orenuga said the 64 graduands are from both the Nursing and Midwifery Departments and had started the three-year training programmes in 2018 and 2019 for the award of Certificates of Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Midwives (RN).

She tasked them to allow the five concepts of Nursing: Respect, Care Coordination & Integration, Information, Communication & Education, Comfort and Family Input, to guide them on the path to becoming 21st Century Professionals.

The Provost also reminded them that LASCON is built on integrity and will continue to strive for progress while creating a conducive working environment for students. She implored the graduands to let the core values and principles under which they were trained to guide them in all their professional dealings in and out of a health facility.

Orenuga further informed the graduands that the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved that all graduates of the College are to be given automatic employment on completion of their training, adding that more incentives have also been included in the salary of nurses in the State.

Guest Lecturer and Vice Principal, Administration, School of Nursing, Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro in Ogun State, Mrs. Rukayat Oseni noted that nurses are well sought after in the health sector, as such, nurses must become more active and vocal in policymaking.

Speaking on the theme of the ceremony, Oseni charged governments and stakeholders to invest in the nursing profession through more infrastructure in order to achieve global health coverage for all.

The high point of the event was the presentation of Awards of Recognition to various individuals who have in one way or another supported the growth of the Nursing Profession. Among the recipients were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab and the Provost of Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, Mrs. Oyefunso Orenuga, who were presented with the Exemplary Leadership Awards for their efforts in improving the Nursing Profession in Lagos State.
