 COURT RESTRAINS RESIDENT DOCTORS FROM EMBARKING ON STRIKE  The national industrial court Abuja division has restrained all members and agents of the national association of resident doctors from calling, directing, organizing, participating in, and embarking upon any form of industrial action.  Justice Emmanuel Danjuma Subilim gave the order in an interim injunction filed by the federal government through the office of the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice.  The court temporally barred members of the association from embarking on any form of strike, work stoppages, go-slows, picketing, or any other form of industrial protest or disruption. The association is equally restrained from taking steps preparatory to any form of industrial action from the 12th day of january, 2026. Igbokwe knocks Ekweremadu’s son for elaborate wedding amid parents’ jail terms


Joe Igbokwe, an APC chieftain, has condemned Lloyd Ekweremadu, the son of former deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, for hosting an extravagant wedding despite his parents’ incarceration in the United Kingdom.


Lloyd married Tiffany Adaobi Obinna-Uzor at the Basilica of Grace, Anglican Communion, Gudu District, Abuja, on Saturday, August 19.


The Nation learnt top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including three former Senate Presidents – Anyim Pius Anyim, David Mark, and Bukola Saraki and PDP governorship candidate in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, among others, stood in for Ekweremadu, and his wife Beatrice.


Ekweremadu, a PDP leader, was found guilty of organ trafficking and was sentenced in May 2023 and he is currently incarcerated in a UK prison along with his wife Beatrice.


The UK court sentenced Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months, while Beatrice received a prison term of four years and six months.


Obinna Obeta, a doctor who was accused of conspiring with them, was sentenced to ten years in prison.


In view of the situation, Igbokwe suggested that Ekweremadu’s son should have opted for a more private wedding ceremony, expressing concern over the boldness of today’s youth.


He said: “If I were to be Ekweremmadu’s son I would not have staged this elaborate wedding ceremony with my father and mother in prison. I would have done a low-key marriage ceremony and wait till my parents are free. This generation scares me stiff.”
