 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. Speaker Unveils legislative agenda 

The Speaker of the house of Representatives Dr Tajudeen Abbas, has unveiled the Legislative Agenda of the 10th House of Representatives with a commitment to deploy every legislative instrument towards meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
 
Dr Abbas said the legislative agenda titled; ‘The People’s House’ is rooted in the fundamental belief that their primary role as lawmakers is to serve the best interests of their constituents. 
 
He said though the House recognizes the diverse needs and challenges currently facing the nation, it is optimistic that together with President Bola Tinubu, they will proffer long-lasting solutions to set Nigeria on a sure path of development. 
 
Abbas pointed out that the legislative agenda encompasses a range of eight critical issues, designed to provide the necessary legislative support to the eight-point Agenda of the executive. 
 
These he said include strengthening good governance, economic development, improving national security, law reform, economic growth and development, social sector reform and development, inclusion and open parliament, influencing foreign policy and climate change, and environmental sustainability. 
 
The President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio lauded the House for leading the way in unveiling its legislative agenda, promising that the Senate would ensure it does not depart from the agenda of the House.
 
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume said for any democratic system of governance to thrive there must be in existence a focused and forward-looking legislature.
