NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. We have been fully participating in all INEC activities without let or hindrance. NDC also fielded candidates, and fully pa...

Women face all levels of discriminations – Mo Abudu

Nigerian media mogul and philanthropist, Mo Abudu, has called on African women to work a bit harder noting that women are facing all levels of discrimination in the world.

She stated this during an interview while reacting to being named as Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women list alongside the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

According to Forbes’ 20th annual ranking released in early December 2023, the Nigerian economist held the 87th spot, while South African businesswoman Mpumi Madisa, ranked 88th.

While reacting, Mo Abudu who occupied the 98th position called on African women to step out to break barriers considering all levels of discriminations.

She also noted that God must be involved in whatever one wants to do.

Abudu said, “Being named among the best African women in Forbes list can only be God’s doing. I don’t want to start getting spiritual about work but I do delivery as a space and there is a place for spirituality. When I wake up every day I pray to God to bless whatever I want to do.

“There are lots of women around the word, especially Nigeria doing really great things. To be named as one of two black women alongside Okonjo-Iweala, I give God the glory.”

On whether she sees more women coming out to break barriers, Abudu said, “Women have to step out to break barriers. We have to understand the disparity. I feel that every African woman has to work three times harder because they are working against bisexual black, bisexual African, bisexual Nigeria. Women should know they are facing all levels of discriminations.

“You have all these levels of discriminations. It prepares me to be the best among every one else. For the fact the I’m a woman I have to work three times harder.”

Speaking on what kept her going, Abudu explained that she always execute any that creeps up her head, adding that you must have a big pipeline of projects and work on them.

“When I have something on my head to do I have to execute the idea. I believe in having a big pipeline of projects, I called it funnels. You have to make your funnels full because things are going to trickle down through the funnel. I have a lot of projects which are trickling down the funnel. I won’t stop having full funnels,” she added.
