 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  RESPONSE TO PUBLIC COMPLAINTS: IGP Organizes 2-Day Workshop For Heads of CRUs Across The Country.


As part of his initiative to emplace a Police Force that is professionally competent, service-driven, rule of law compliant and people-friendly, the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has established Complaint Response Units (CRU) in all Police state commands across the country in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020, and subsequently organised a 2-day workshop for the heads of this unit. 


The appointed heads of the states’ CRU assembled on the FCT Abuja on the 21st of February 2024, for induction into their offices and commencement of a 2-day workshop, at the Peacekeeping Hall, 5th floor, Force Headquarters, Abuja. At the induction ceremony, the IGP, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, who was represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, charged the officers to be upright and just in the discharge of their duties. He urged them to be firm, up and doing, reiterating the commitment of the IGP in ensuring the protection of people's fundamental human rights and promoting the core values of the force. 


The induction ceremony and 2-day workshop also had in attendance the representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and AIG Austine Iwah, retired AIG and UN certified resource person. 


The IGP and other partners, however, promised that the unit  would continually receive several training and workshop programmes to better equip them for their new responsibilities, and project the vision statement of the new leadership of the police for improved service delivery.
