The trial of Bello Bodejo, the detained leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has been scheduled for May 29 by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
This decision follows the dismissal of Bodejoās bail application.
During the last court session, the trial was set for ruling and commencement, but Bodejoās absence impeded progress.
After fixing the trial date, Bodejoās counsel, Ahmed Raji, affirmed his clientās readiness for trial, expressing satisfaction with the courtās directive for an expedited process. He indicated no intention to appeal the bail ruling at this time.
Bodejo, arrested by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for allegedly establishing an ethnic militia group, Kungiya Zaman Lafiya, faces charges under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
His arraignment in March stemmed from accusations filed by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).
Despite denying all charges, Bodejoās plea for bail on grounds of ill health and fundamental rights was rejected by Justice Ekwo prior to the trial date announcement.
