 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. FG HAS ANNOUNCED THE PROMOTION OF 331 DIRECTORS WITHIN THE FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE. (PHOTO).



 The Federal Government has announced the promotion of 331 directors within the federal civil service.


These newly appointed directors were part of a pool of 697 candidates who participated in the oral interviews held on November 4, 2024.


Earlier, in May 2024, the Federal Civil Service Commission had issued a notification regarding the promotion and evaluation process for senior civil servants at Grade Levels 14, 15, and 16.


The written assessments for the promotion process took place from August 12 to August 17, 2024.


Following the written exams, the Civil Service Commission called in those who passed for oral interviews on October 11, 2024, and subsequently released an additional list of candidates on October 21, 2024.


The final list of promotions was released in a memo signed by Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission.


“Following the Year 2024 Directorate Level Promotion/Evaluation Exercise, the Federal Civil Service Commission has approved the promotion of the following Officers in the Federal Civil Service from Salary Grade Levels 14 to 15, 15 to 16, and 16 to 17, effective January 1, 2024,” stated Olaopa in the memo.
