As IGP Decorates Newly Appointed DIG Ari.

In a continued commitment to combat gender-based violence and support victims, the Nigeria Police Force in conjunction with other Governmental groups and NGOs is observing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a campaign that aims to raise awareness and mobilize action to end all forms of violence against women and girls.

The recent implementation of the comprehensive Police Gender Policy, along with the appointment of a dedicated Gender Advisor, signifies the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to the mission to foster gender inclusivity and a safer society for all.

The Police have a longstanding commitment to combating Gender-Based Violence, sexual violence, harassment, and other associated crimes. This commitment is reflected in the formation of specialized units within the Force, including the Juvenile, Women & Child (JWC) unit, the Anti-Human Trafficking unit, and the Anti-Child Labour unit, among others, which are dedicated to addressing these sensitive issues. The IGP also recently held a workshop with the heads of all investigation units within the force, to ensure the implementation of child-friendly policing practices that are supportive, non-traumatic, and rights-respecting, aimed at upholding the dignity and rights of children and young people while fostering a protective environment, which is a microsystem of policing structure.

In another development, the Inspector-General of Police, officially decorated the recently promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Ari Muhammed as the Coordinating DIG for the North Central region.

DIG Ari Muhammed has a distinguished record of service, characterized by exemplary leadership and dedication. He has served in various capacities, including DC Ops at the Lagos State Police Command, CP Delta State Command, and AIG Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos. Prior to his recent promotion, he served as the AIG Zone 1, Kano.

The Force remains resolute in its mission to eliminate gender-based violence and foster a community in which every individual feels safe and respected. Individuals to speak out against violence, seek help and report incidents to the authorities. The IGP further reiterates his commitment to enhancing policing efforts and ensuring effective law enforcement across the country.
