Group Calls on Delta Speaker to Explain Preyor’s Suspension

The Concerned Citizens of Bomadi Constituency have called on the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, to provide clear reasons for the suspension of Mr. Oboro Kenneth Preyor, the member representing the constituency.

On Tuesday, the Delta State House of Assembly suspended Preyor for 14 legislative days over allegations of gross misconduct.

However, in a statement issued by Engr. Franklin Miebi Garry, the group expressed concern over the suspension, with many questioning the basis for the decision.

The statement reads: “As the Governor prepares to present the 2025 budget proposal to the State Assembly, attention now turns to the circumstances surrounding Preyor’s suspension. In the interest of accountability and transparency, the Speaker must offer a clear explanation for the actions taken against Preyor. The people of Delta State deserve to know what is meant by ‘gross misconduct’ in this case.

“What specific actions or behaviors led to Preyor’s suspension? Were there any prior warnings or disciplinary actions before the suspension? How does the Assembly define ‘gross misconduct,’ and are these guidelines publicly available?

“We urge the Speaker to address these questions comprehensively, ensuring that the public understands the rationale behind Preyor’s suspension. Transparency is vital to maintaining public trust in the Assembly’s decision-making.

“The people of Bomadi Constituency deserve to be represented in the discussions surrounding the State budget, and we call on the Speaker to ensure that our representative is included in these important discussions.”
