 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. Miss South Africa🇿🇦 Mia Le Roux, has shockingly withdrawn from the Miss Universe Competition.

The Miss South Africa organisation announced on Friday that Miss SA 2024, Mia Le Roux, has withdrawn from the Miss Universe competition.

According to the organisation, Le Roux withdrew due to health concerns.

Meanwhile, support for Nigeria's Chidinma Adetshina as the candidate fit for the Miss Universe crown intensifies.🇳🇬.

Mia Le Roux is thankful to South Africans for the support she received during her time at the Miss Universe pageant.

Statement from the Miss South Africa Organisation

It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia Le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns.

Mia Le Roux expresses, “I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me. However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”

The Miss South Africa Organisation states, “Mia has shown incredible courage and grace throughout this difficult period. Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side, dedicated to ensuring she regains her strength and returns to full health. Our hearts are with her as she takes the necessary steps toward recovery.”

Le Roux’s withdrawal comes against the backdrop of a controversial year for the Miss South Africa pageant.
Chidimma Adetshina, a contestant of Nigerian and South African heritage, withdrew from the competition following a social media backlash over her nationality.
Adetshina, 23, was born in Soweto to a Nigerian father and a South African mother of Mozambican descent.
The controversy deepened after the South African Home Affairs Ministry launched an investigation, revealing allegations that her mother may have committed identity theft.
In the wake of the backlash, Adetshina was invited to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant, which she ultimately won.
Le Roux, a descendant of Dutch settlers known as Boers, was subsequently crowned Miss South Africa 2024.

Last month, Ms Le Roux expressed her excitement about the chance to represent South Africa on the Miss Universe stage terming it a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for my voice to be heard".
She said then that she hoped to showcase her country’s "beautiful diversity".
She was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one and has a cochlear implant to help her perceive sound.
In an earlier interview, she said it had taken two years of speech therapy before she was able to say her first words. She spoke passionately about her journey, acknowledging the challenges she has faced.
