LAND REVOCATION: SPEAKER ABBAS NOT OWING FCTA-AIDE. (PHOTO).

Speaker Abbas' aide has come out to clarify that the Speaker does not owe the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) any debts, contrary to reports that led to the revocation of his land allocation.  This development comes after Minister Nyesom Wike revoked plots belonging to several prominent Nigerians, including Abbas, for allegedly failing to pay for their Certificates of Occupancy.  The aide's statement suggests that Abbas may have been unfairly targeted in the revocation process. Reacting to the development in a statement on Friday, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi, noted that Abbas has only one land allocated to him in the FCT and has since settled all payments. He said that it an error for the FCTA to include Abbas’ name among those having outstanding payments, leading to the revocation of the land titles.  Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment To Climate Action At COP29 In Azerbaijan


Nigeria's Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has reiterated the nation's steadfast commitment to addressing the global climate crisis during the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Azerbaijan.


Speaking on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the minister showcased Nigeria's climate agenda, outlining key initiatives designed to achieve a sustainable and resilient future. 


These include:


Energy Transition Plan: Expanding renewable energy capacity and promoting energy efficiency.


National Adaptation Plan: Strengthening resilience to the adverse effects of climate change.


Carbon Market Framework: Driving emissions reductions while fostering green economic growth.


Climate Finance Advocacy: Championing increased global funding and the operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund.


The minister highlighted the importance of collaboration in combating climate change, calling for stronger global partnerships to ensure a sustainable future.


“Nigeria is committed to playing a leading role in the fight against climate change. Together, we can create a healthier, more sustainable planet for future generations,” he said.
