NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Executive Chairman of Gulani Local Government Council in Yobe State, Alh. Dayyabu Ilu Njibulwa, has officially welcomed six individuals who were cleared by the Upper Shari’a Court for renouncing banditry and kidnapping in the region.

This was announced in a statement by the LG’s Chief Information Officer, Ali Abdullahi Shishiwaji, who stated that the ceremony took place at the local government secretariat in Bara. It was attended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), officials from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a Sharia Court Judge, the Chairman of the Association of Village Heads, Gulani LGA, and other dignitaries.

In his address to the repentant individuals, the Council Chairman urged them to view their court clearance as a chance to rebuild their lives in accordance with religious and traditional values.

Njibulwa also appealed to the community to embrace the repentant individuals and support their reintegration into society. He encouraged others engaged in criminal activities to follow their example and renounce banditry and kidnapping, assuring that the government is ready to welcome anyone who genuinely seeks to abandon crime.

The court had cleared the repentant individuals after they demonstrated sincere remorse for their past actions and took an oath on the Holy Qur'an to publicly confirm their total renouncement of criminal behavior.

The court also cautioned against any actions or hostility that could create discomfort for the repentant individuals.

Speaking on behalf of the group, one of the repentants expressed regret for their past actions and pledged to contribute to the peace and progress of the local government and the state.
