 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  22 injur£d as bus rams into celebrants in Gombe


A commercial bus rammed into a Christmas procession in Tumfure community, Gombe, on Christmas Day, injuring 22 people.


The Tumfure community celebrants were on their way to the Government House and Gombe Emir’s Palace for homage when the accident occurred.


Buhari Abdullahi, the spokesperson for Gombe State police, stated that the injured were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital and Specialist Hospital.


No fatalities were recorded.


The police have launched an investigation.


The Commissioner of Police tasked the Motor Traffic Department to carry out a thorough probe.


Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed sympathy to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the victims, pledging to cover medical expenses.
