ZIMBABWEAN COUPLE DEPORTED OVER SECRET BURIAL OF CHILD IN BOTSWANA A Zimbabwean couple has been deported from Botswana after secretly burying their child without notifying authorities. Motilinah Mpofu and Christopher Ncube were convicted on Thursday of concealing a death after they allegedly dug a grave for their child in the dead of night. The Gaborone court heard the child had died suddenly. Instead of reporting the death to police, health officials, or traditional leaders, the couple quietly buried the youngster and hoped no one would find out. In sentencing, the court ordered that the couple be taken to the Plumtree Border Post for deportation to Zimbabwe.  Top Botswana lawyer Winnie Masitha who offered the couple free legal representation during the trial, confirmed the deportation to BTV News. PANDEF Seeks Wike’s Intervention in Land Dispute Over Late Col. Paul Ogbebor’s Estate

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has called on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, to intervene in the ongoing land dispute concerning a property previously allocated to the late Colonel Paul Ogbebor, a respected Nigerian nationalist and military figure. The revocation of the land allocated to Ogbebor, who passed away recently, has sparked widespread media attention, raising concerns over the handling of the property.

Ogbebor, the first Nigerian to enroll in the Nigerian Defence Academy’s Cadet Course 1, was known for his distinguished military service both in Nigeria and abroad. He was also a founding member of PANDEF, which credits his contributions to its successes in advocating for the Niger Delta region.

In a statement signed by Chief Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF’s National Spokesman, the forum urged Minister Wike to take action to safeguard Ogbebor’s legacy. PANDEF called on him to demonstrate statesmanship by halting the reallocation of the estate and ensuring that the late hero’s contributions to the nation are respected. The statement highlighted the need to preserve the dignity of Nigerian heroes and protect their legacies in national matters.
