 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  San Diego Plane Crash Claims Lives of Rock Musician and Influential Music Executive


San Diego, CA – May 23, 2025 


— A tragic small-plane crash near San Diego has claimed the lives of a prominent rock musician and a widely respected music executive, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry.


Authorities confirmed that the crash occurred late Wednesday afternoon near Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport. The twin-engine aircraft, a Beechcraft Baron, went down shortly after takeoff, bursting into flames upon impact. Fire crews responded quickly but were unable to save the two occupants.


The victims were identified Thursday morning as 45-year-old Marcus Steele, frontman of the critically acclaimed alt-rock band Glass Signal, and 58-year-old Daniel "Danny" Marris, a legendary figure in the music industry known for discovering and developing major acts over the past three decades.


Steele rose to fame in the mid-2000s with Glass Signal’s breakout album Refraction, praised for its introspective lyrics and experimental soundscapes. The band had recently reunited and was reportedly preparing new material and a tour.


Marris, a former A&R executive at EchoTone Records, was instrumental in shaping the careers of multiple Grammy-winning artists. Known for his intuitive ear and fierce advocacy for creative freedom, he was considered a mentor to many within the industry.


Witnesses reported hearing sputtering noises from the aircraft moments before the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Weather conditions at the time were described as clear and calm.


Fans and fellow musicians took to social media to express grief and disbelief. “Marcus was a once-in-a-generation talent, and Danny was the reason so many of us even had a chance,” wrote singer-songwriter Avery Cross. “This is an unimaginable loss.”


Both men leave behind families and legacies that shaped the sound and soul of modern rock music. Tributes and memorial plans are expected to be announced in the coming days.


The NTSB has stated that a preliminary report will be released within two weeks.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
