 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  Trump opens new golf course, meets Scottish first minister

President Donald Trump officially opened his newest golf course and held discussions with Scottish First Minister John Swinney as he wrapped up his visit to Scotland on Tuesday. At the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Trump appeared alongside his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, and cut the ribbon to mark the grand opening while speaking briefly with the media. He mentioned that after playing the course, he would return to the United States to address global issues.

Trump referenced a cease-fire arranged between Thailand and Cambodia, saying, "We did one yesterday, as you know, we stopped the war," although Thailand later accused Cambodia of violating the cease-fire. He emphasized that resolving conflicts was more important than golfing, despite enjoying the sport. This was his second day golfing on the trip, having played Monday at his Turnberry resort, where he also met with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Swinney reportedly sought to discuss the 10% tariff the U.S. imposed on U.K. exports, especially Scotch whisky, which accounts for a quarter of the U.K.’s food and drink exports. Reports say Trump and Swinney discussed whisky extensively, with a Scottish government source noting a possible “window of opportunity” to reduce the tariff ahead of Trump’s next U.K. visit in September.
