Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. UK, FRENCH, AND GERMAN LEADERS DISCUSS GAZA AFTER MACRON SUPPORTS PALESTINIAN STATE. (PHOTO).

UK, French, and German leaders discuss Gaza after Macron supports Palestinian state.

The leaders of Britain, France, and Germany will hold an emergency call Friday to address the escalating hunger crisis in Gaza, following French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement that France will become the first major Western power to officially recognize a Palestinian state. This move highlights divisions within the European E3 alliance over how to respond to the worsening humanitarian situation and the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

While all three countries support the idea of a Palestinian state in principle, Germany has said it has no immediate plans to follow France’s lead, which Macron intends to formalize at the United Nations General Assembly in September. Britain has also yet to make a formal recognition, though Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently acknowledged Palestinian statehood as an “inalienable right.” Starmer, Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are set to discuss urgent measures to halt violence, provide critical food aid, and work toward lasting peace. The situation has intensified calls within Britain for recognition, with members of Starmer’s Labour Party pushing for action, even as the government seeks to balance relations with the U.S., which has condemned France’s decision.
