ZIMBABWEAN COUPLE DEPORTED OVER SECRET BURIAL OF CHILD IN BOTSWANA A Zimbabwean couple has been deported from Botswana after secretly burying their child without notifying authorities. Motilinah Mpofu and Christopher Ncube were convicted on Thursday of concealing a death after they allegedly dug a grave for their child in the dead of night. The Gaborone court heard the child had died suddenly. Instead of reporting the death to police, health officials, or traditional leaders, the couple quietly buried the youngster and hoped no one would find out. But the secret did not stay buried for long.   Police moved in and arrested the pair. In sentencing, the court ordered that the couple be taken to the Plumtree Border Post for deportation to Zimbabwe.  Top Botswana lawyer Winnie Masitha who offered the couple free legal representation during the trial, confirmed the deportation to BTV News.  Governor Soludo Votes in Isuofia, Expresses Confidence in Landslide Victory Amid BVAS Delays and Vote-Buying Reports

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, cast his vote at exactly 1:25 p.m. on Saturday at Ofiyi Square, Polling Unit 002, in Isuofia community, Aguata Local Government Area, during the ongoing governorship election.

The governor arrived at the polling unit, underwent swift accreditation, and proceeded to vote without incident.

However, over 400 voters remained queued at the centre, facing significant delays due to the deployment of only one Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine.

Speaking to journalists shortly after voting, Governor Soludo described the election as “relatively peaceful” but acknowledged isolated challenges.

He expressed strong confidence in securing a landslide victory, provided votes are accurately counted, while alleging instances of vote-buying by opponents.

“The election has been relatively peaceful and going on very peacefully, except for some places where we have gotten reports of difficulty,” Soludo said.

“We have witnessed glitches here and there, like some polling units in Olumbanasa where the BVAS were not working very well. We have also received reports about Nnewi South Local Government Area, where someone was sharing N15,000 for votes, maybe because he is desperate to win in that local government.”

He added: “I heard it and I said, don’t mind. Even if they share N100,000, let the people just vote and let the votes count. We are fairly convinced that on the basis of one man, one vote, we are going to win landslide; there is no question about that.”
