NNPP Rejects Kwankwaso-Led Congresses, Urges INEC and Public to Disregard Them

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed plans by the Kwankwasiya Movement, led by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, to conduct fresh congresses, labeling the move unconstitutional and unauthorized. In a statement issued by National Secretary Ogini Olaposi, the party emphasized that court-ordered congresses had already been concluded.

The Kwankwaso-led faction had earlier notified INEC of its intention to hold new congresses and a convention from November 25, 2025, to January 2026. However, the NNPP leadership insists that the Memorandum of Association with the group expired after the 2023 elections and that Kwankwaso and his allies remain expelled for anti-party activities.

The party criticized Kwankwaso’s continued attempts to assert control, calling it an effort to “hijack” the platform that enabled his 2023 presidential bid. It urged INEC to uphold court rulings and recognize the party’s legitimate leadership on its official platforms.
