Passengers removed from plane at DCA after bomb threat
Passengers on a United Airlines flight at Washington, D.C.’s Reagan National Airport were removed from the aircraft after a bomb threat prompted a security response.
The flight, United Airlines 512, landed around 11:30 a.m. and was directed to a runway away from the terminal while authorities investigated the threat, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Runways were temporarily closed until all passengers were safely escorted off the plane and transported to the terminal by bus.
Reagan National Airport later announced that the ground stop had been lifted at 12:50 p.m. EST, and flights were resuming. The FBI’s Washington Field Office confirmed that no hazards were found during the investigation.
The FAA reported that the issue had been resolved and downgraded the ground stop to a delay. United Airlines said the flight originated from George Bush Intercontinental Airport with 89 passengers and six crew members onboard. Law enforcement searched the plane and cleared it for return to the gate.
