 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  Peter Obi Visits Chris Ngige Over Armed Attack On His Convoy 


Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election and two-term Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi has paid a solidarity visit to his predecessor and immediate past minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige following last Wednesday’s attack on the latter’s convoy. 


Upon reading the news, Obi typical of him drove to Alor, Idemili South Local Government home of Ngige to pay a solidarity visit to his once political foe. 


The two went into a closed door session where Ngige shared moments that led to the incident and prayed for the repose of the dead victim while wishing the wounded, which included his police orderly and a store owner, quick recovery. 


Addressing the press shortly after the closed door meeting, Ngige confirmed that there was a casualty in the shooting incident.


On his part, Obi said he was in Alor to express his solidarity with Ngige. “I’m happy he’s safe,” Obi said. “My own is just to thank God he’s safe and his security people are safe,” Obi added. 


Obi also expressed happiness that the injured were quickly taken to the hospital and that Ngige being a physician also helped their recovery process as he directed the evacuation and treatment of the wounded from his village home as “doctors in Anambra State are on strike.”


“I’m happy he’s in good health. That’s all I came to do,” Obi concluded.
