Mexico says two US federal agents killed in crash were not authorized for operations inside country  Mexico’s government says two U.S. federal agents killed in a northern border-region crash were not authorized to take part in any operations on Mexican soil, raising new questions about their role in a cross-border drug lab mission. Authorities say the agents were returning from an operation targeting a clandestine drug facility in Chihuahua when their vehicle, traveling as part of a convoy, went off a ravine and exploded last weekend. Two Mexican officers also died in the incident. U.S. officials have confirmed the two Americans were CIA personnel, though their agency has declined to comment on the circumstances.  Putin warns Europe of war if conflict escalates, as Ukraine peace talks stall

Peace talks between the U.S. and Russia on Tuesday ended without a breakthrough, as Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his readiness for war with Europe if necessary. The discussions in Moscow involved U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who met with Putin and senior Russian aides to review a draft peace plan aimed at ending the nearly four-year conflict in Ukraine.

The talks lasted five hours, with Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov calling them “useful, constructive, and highly informative,” though he said both sides remained far apart on key issues. Moscow continues to demand that Kyiv cede partially occupied territory in the east, while disagreeing over Western-backed security guarantees for Ukraine. Speaking ahead of the meetings, Putin said Europe’s peace proposals were “absolutely unacceptable” and warned that while Russia does not seek war with Europe, it is “ready right now” if hostilities arise. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, meanwhile, expressed cautious optimism, saying the country is “closer to peace than ever before.” Analysts, however, predict the process will be protracted, as Russia appears willing to prolong negotiations to extract concessions while continuing military operations.
