Texas woman charged with medical child abuse for falsifying toddler’s health and pushing unnecessary feeding tube surgeries A Texas woman has been charged with medical child abuse after allegedly falsifying her toddler’s medical history to pressure doctors into performing unnecessary procedures, including feeding tube surgeries, in what authorities are calling a “sickening” case. Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Milan Cortina Olympics become most-watched Winter Games since 2014 on NBCUniversal platforms

NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Milan Cortina Olympics has set a new benchmark, becoming the most-watched Winter Games in more than a decade. Across NBC, Peacock, NBCUniversal digital platforms, and select cable channels, including USA Network, the Games averaged 23.5 million viewers during the combined live afternoon Milan Prime window (2-5 p.m. ET) and U.S. primetime (8-11 p.m. ET/PT) periods. This represents the highest average audience for a Winter Olympics since Sochi 2014 and a 96% increase over the 12 million viewers who tuned in for the Beijing 2022 Winter Games during comparable time slots.

Streaming numbers also soared, with 16.7 billion minutes of Milan Cortina Olympics content consumed across NBCUniversal’s digital platforms, led by Peacock. Over the 17-day Games, Peacock streamed more than 850 live events, more than doubling all prior Winter Olympics combined. Highlights included the U.S. Women’s and Men’s Hockey Teams both defeating Canada in overtime, with Thursday’s women’s gold medal game drawing 5.3 million viewers and peaking at 7.7 million during overtime—the most-watched women’s hockey game in history. The final men’s gold medal game, in which Team USA won its first men’s hockey gold since 1980, will have viewership numbers released soon. Overall, NBCUniversal delivered 3,200 hours of coverage spanning 116 events, while Team USA captured a record 12 gold medals and ranked second overall with 33 medals.
