John Goodman, now 73, is thriving after shedding an incredible 200 pounds.
Best known for his role as Dan Conner on the classic sitcom Roseanne, Goodman has also built a celebrated film career with standout performances in Coen Brothers favorites like Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?.
More recently, he reprised his role in The Conners and gained a new wave of fans through his comedic turn in HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones. His transformation was on full display at the 2026 SXSW premiere of Chili Finger, where he looked healthier and more confident than ever.
Goodman’s weight loss journey began back in 2007, when he decided to make serious changes to his lifestyle.
In a 2016 interview, he admitted he was “sick and tired of looking at myself” and realized the health risks of continuing on the same path.
Over time, he committed to healthier habits and exercise routines, gradually losing the weight.
His dedication has paid off, not only in his appearance but also in his overall well-being, allowing him to continue working actively in Hollywood well into his seventies.
As for his fitness regimen, Goodman has shared that he enjoys simple but effective activities like walking his dogs and boxing.
He explained that boxing is less about fighting and more about learning technique and staying active.
His transformation serves as an inspiring reminder of how persistence and lifestyle changes can dramatically improve health.
Looking back at his earlier work, such as his powerful performance in Roseanne’s 1993 domestic violence storyline, fans can see just how far he has come both in his career and in his personal journey toward better health.
