The Edo State House of Assembly has removed Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from her position as Minority Leader, marking a significant shift in the chamber’s leadership structure. The announcement, made on Monday, is part of a broader restructuring triggered by recent political defections. Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, also of the PDP, was similarly stripped of her role as Majority Leader. Meanwhile, Hon. Yekini Idaiye, another PDP lawmaker, lost his position as Chief Whip. Despite the shake-up, PDP lawmakers Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Hon. Maria Edeko have held onto their roles as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively—for now. The changes stem from a letter submitted by Jarret Tenebe, acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, following the defection of four PDP lawmakers to the APC. Gov. Buni of Yobe Supports 200 Orphans with N50,000 each. 

Yobe state Governor His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, today supported 200 orphans from 17 LGA's of the state with N50,000 each.

Gov. Buni said the gesture was to assist the orphans with a little start up capital to be introduced to skill acquisition and self reliance at a very early stage in life.

"It is our hope that this assistance will add value to your lives and future" Gov. Buni prayed.

The orphans whose age ranges between 9-14 years cut across the 17 LGAs of the state.

Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, Coordinator of the programme and Special Adviser to Gov. Buni on Religious Affairs, said this is the first time orphans in the state were supported in such a large number.

He said the gesture by the Governor would reduce the menace of street begging especially among orphans who have no bread winners.

Malam Kyari called on guardians of the orphans to support them and ensure judicious use of the resources.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
