WOMEN AFFAIRS BOSS, OBINABO RETRIEVES 3 CHILDREN FORCEFULLY TAKEN AWAY FROM MOTHER IN AWKA

By Chidinma Ikeanyionwu

Three children who had been forcibly removed from their mother for six years have been returned by Hon. Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner.

She did this in response to a petition made by a woman named Chizoba Patience Nwafor, who claimed that her husband, Ogochukwu David Nwafor, who lives in South Africa, had given the children to his sister, Ukamaka Igwilo, who then gave them to Josephine Okoye and her husband, Mr. Chukwudimma Okoye.

After the ministry conducted a preliminary investigation, Hon. Obinabo stormed the school and rescued the three kids.

The complainant, Chizoba Nwafor, thanked the Women Affairs Commissioner while openly crying and explained that her children had all been taken from her six years prior despite her best efforts to get them back.
Chizoba Nwafor claimed that her last child was just two years old when they were taken from her and that ever since, her husband's family has denied her access to see them and has forbidden her from getting close to them.

Josephine Okoye, however, refuted this claim and alleged that since their brother took their children, they have  never seen Chizoba.

The head of women's affairs for Anambra State, Obinabo, who was incensed by the perpetrators' callous demeanor, issued a dire warning to any would-be offenders, stating that under no circumstances would the family be allowed to obtain custody of the children because the mother was still alive.

Hon. Obinabo went on to say that the government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo would not tolerate any sort of detrimental behavior perpetrated against women by other women while under his administration.

Even though the smallest could hardly recall who Chizoba is, the kids were glad to be reunited with their mother after the rescue.

David Nwafor who resides in South Africa, as well as his family, were summoned for a meeting with the Honorable Commissioner on Friday.
