 Peter Obi blasts Gov Alia for blocking him from visiting Benue The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has accused the Benue State Government of politicising his planned visit to internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps and health institutions in the state. In a statement shared on Monday via his official X account, Obi expressed disappointment over what he described as deliberate attempts to frustrate his humanitarian trip to Benue, lamenting what he called the growing politicisation of good causes in Nigeria. DAILY POST had exclusively reported that Alia had moved to block a planned visit by Obi to camps housing Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state. Mohbad: House of Representatives summons Naira Marley, Jiggy Adeoye

The House of Representatives has summoned singer Azeez Fashola, who goes by the stage name Naira Marley, to appear before it.
This comes as part of efforts to address concerns surrounding the works of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad and ensure that his rights are upheld.
The House, through its Committee on Justice, Youth, and Legislative Compliance, also invited Jiggy Adeoye, Mohbad’s manager.
The invitation to Mohbad’s manager is to enable the lawmakers to have an interactive session scheduled for November 3.
This comes as a bold step towards securing a proper compensation and royalties for the late music sensation.
Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, tragically passed away at the age of 27 under unclear circumstances on Sept 12.
The House’s decision to intervene in the matter was prompted by a motion sponsored by Rep. Babajimi Benson (APC-Lagos).
Benson urged a review of the laws pertaining to the entertainment industry and copyright, expressing concerns about the contracts and agreements that artistes were often compelled to sign.
During the debate on the matter at the plenary session on Sept 26, the lawmakers had expressed their commitment to ensuring proper compensation and royalties for Mohbad’s musical works.
The lawmakers also pledged to monitor the ongoing investigation into his death and the royalties accruing to him.
In a letter dated Oct. 26, signed by the Committee’s Clerk, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim, the house formally summoned both Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager.
This was to provide insights into the situation and guide the committee on potential legislative action.
The letter was routed through the President of the Performing Musicians Associations of Nigeria.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
