2 TENNESSEE RESOURCES OFFICERS GO THE EXTRA MILE TO HELP A STRUGGLING TEEN. (PHOTO).

2 Tennessee resource officers go the extra mile to help a struggling teen.

When LA Vergne High School resource officers learned a student was homeless and living in a broken down van they stepped up to do what they could.

The teens situation came to light back in January when the schools coordinator for the ATLAS program, which provides services for families in transition, learned of a 17- year-old's situation.

The coordinator found a shelter the student could stay in, however his van was broken down. This is when Cody Didier and Jeremy Gregory, both resource officers, stepped in.

The two teamed up and were able to get the student a new alternator that was donated by the local AutoZone.

They then teamed up with students to install the alternator.  After installing the alternator the officers realized the van was out of gas and pooled their money to fill his tank.

This is such a great story and should be used as an example of how resource officers and school officials can and should have a positive impact on the lives of students.
