One Engr. Izuchukwu Abel Uzuegbu has been handed over to the police for allegedly forcefully taking late brother's property from the wife in Ekwulummili, Nnewi South local government area of the state.

The handover was done at the office of the commissioner for women and social welfare Anambra after Mrs Ebele Uzuegbu has brought a complaint against the brother in law.

According to Ebele, she was just 22 years old when her husband was a$$issinated two weeks after their child dedication. She stated that from that day, she has been living in misery because her husband's brother Abel took all her husband's landed properties, businesses, bank papers and even used a long vehicle to pack all their properties back to the village.

She also stated that she was not allowed to stay in her husband's house and mourn him but was rather chased out on the allegation that he kil_led her husband.

Mrs Uzuegbu said that since the incident 20 years ago, she has been asking her brother in law to release her husband's property, but all efforts seemed abortive, hence why she quickly ran to the women affairs Commissioner.

Meanwhile, the said brother in law, Engr Uzuegbu, claimed the properties were not taken by him but by one Mr Fred Umeh who is now late and Mr Ifeanyi Nwaokeke.

When he was asked on whose instructions did Fred act on, he said he doesn't know and does not care but admitted to having the key to the house and the room where he packed the properties. He also stated that he secured the said properties for the children of the first wife who had remarried before his brother decided to marry Ebele.

Nonetheless, the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Honourable Ify Obinabo put a call through to Mr Ifeanyi Nwaokeke, who explained that everything he did was according to the directive of the deceased brother Abel.

According to him, everything recovered was handed over to Engr Abel while the son of the first wife Mr Uchenna Suleiman in a voice note refuted ever being in communication with Engr Abel and went further to reveal that it is because of his wickedness that he and his siblings had refused to return back to their father's house.

The Women Affairs boss, during the mediation, instructed Engr Uzuegbu to return all the things in his possession to his late brother's wife, which he vehemently refused.

It was at this point that the Honourable Commissioner called the police and handed him over to them.
