Up at dawn for front-row seat to history at Francis’s funeral Many had woken up at dawn while others slept in their cars before Catholic faithful poured into St Peter’s Square from all corners of the globe on Saturday, fuelled by a desire to honour Pope Francis. As the first rays of the day rose over the sprawling Baroque plaza, mourners rushed towards empty chairs once they had passed through metal detectors, anxious for a front-row seat to history. Among them was Jean-Baptiste Leclezio, a 22-year-old from Lyon, who slept on the ground overnight at the seat of the Catholic Church to be among the first to enter for the funeral of Francis, who died on Monday age 88. “We took floor mats and sleeping bags and we slept there with 400 people, a lot of young people, scouts,” he told AFP. “There were people singing all night but we managed to sleep,” he said. Australian Eloise Bird, 38, said she was tired but happy to have made it into the square after having queued up since 5:15 am with...

A TEXAS WOMAN SADLY GOES FULLY BLIND IN ONE EYE AFTER PARASITES INVADE HER EYE DUE TO SWIMMING IN CONTACT LENSES. (PHOTOS).

A Texas woman sadly goes fully blind in one eye after parasites invade her eye due to swimming in contact lenses.

23-year-old Brooklyn McCasland contracted acanthamoeba keratitis while visiting friends in Alabama. While on vacation she went swimming and soon after started having signs of an eye infection.

However due to the fact that AK mimics common eye infections in early stages, Brooklyn was misdiagnosed for a period of time, giving the parasites time to burrow in. AK is very rare and 90% of cases are in contact lens users.

Brooklyn was in increasingly more pain and eventually went completely blind in her right eye even though she was visiting eye doctors 3 times a week.

Finally, a test result revealed the true culprit but it's so rare the treatments are only made in the UK. Luckily, the office in Dallas had some samples of the treatment and Brooklyn was able to start treatments.

The process is slow and she has to use drops every 30 minutes. There is still a chance that she will need a cornea transplant and could possibly lose her eye if they can't get the condition under control soon.

Brooklyn wishes she had never swam in contacts and warns others about the dangers. Contacts cause minor corneal abrasions which is perfect for AK to take up residence.

We hope that Brooklyn recovers as best as she can. We appreciate her coming forward to warn others of this rare infection.
