 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. To ease parking challenges, designated car parks have been arranged for public use, these include; the Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club Car Park, Zone 2 Car Park (opposite Island Club along King George V Road), Museum Kit...

 A wedding in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, took a tragic turn when a young man collapsed on stage and died of a cardiac arrest. 

The man, identified as Vamsi, was attending his friend’s wedding in Penumada village. While greeting the bride and groom and handing over a gift, Vamsi suddenly lost his balance and leaned to the left. Guests nearby rushed to catch him before he fell.


Vamsi, who worked with Amazon in Bengaluru, was immediately taken to the Dhone City Government Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death due to a cardiac arrest. The incident, captured on video, showed the groom unwrapping the gift as Vamsi collapsed in front of the guests. His sudden passing shocked everyone at the wedding.


Medical experts have raised concerns about the rising number of cardiac arrests among young people in unexpected places, such as gyms or public events. Dr. Ravi Gupta, a consultant cardiologist in Mumbai, cited factors like diabetes, stress, air pollution, sedentary lifestyles, heavy workouts, and the use of steroids as major contributors. He also mentioned that Indians are genetically predisposed to heart problems, and adopting Western lifestyles has further increased the risk.


This incident is part of a worrying trend, as similar cases have been reported recently. In Tamil Nadu, a 49-year-old school teacher, Antony Gerald, collapsed and died of a cardiac arrest while teaching fourth-grade students. Such cases highlight the need for increased awareness about heart health, especially among the younger population.
