 DR Congo president pardons coup plotters of American origin    President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Felix Tshisekedi has granted a presidential pardon to several coup plotters of American origin, who had been sentenced to death, according to official sources, Xinhua reported. Marcel Malanga, born in Utah, United States, and two other Americans who were sentenced to death last September, "will not be executed, as the death penalty is commuted," said Tina Salama, spokesperson for the DRC presidency late Tuesday. Tshisekedi has ordered the commutation of Marcel Malanga's sentence to life imprisonment, said Salama, adding that the measure also applies to the other American nationals convicted.  Rumeysa Gelgi, the worldā€™s tallest woman, and Jyoti Amge, the worldā€™s shortest woman, met for tea at the iconic Savoy Hotel in London to celebrate Guinness World Records Day 2024.

 The meeting brought together two remarkable record holders for a special moment of connection and celebration.


Rumeysa, a 27-year-old web developer from Turkey, stands at 215.16cm (7ft 1in), while Jyoti, a 30-year-old actor from India, measures 62.8cm (2ft 1in). Despite their stark height difference, the two bonded over shared interests like makeup, self-care, and nail art. A video of their interaction was shared on Instagram by Guinness World Records, capturing their heartfelt connection.


ā€œMeeting Jyoti for the first time was wonderful,ā€ Rumeysa said. ā€œSheā€™s the most gorgeous lady, and Iā€™ve been waiting to meet her for a long time.ā€ She added that their height difference made eye contact a bit challenging but did not diminish the joy of their meeting. Jyoti also expressed her happiness, saying, ā€œIā€™m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but today, I was so happy to look up and see the worldā€™s tallest woman.ā€


The meeting celebrated not only their unique records but also the power of connection despite differences. Their shared moment has inspired many around the world, highlighting how individuality can bring people together in unexpected and heartwarming ways.
