 Mirra Andreeva wins French Open at 19, becomes youngest women’s champion since Monica Seles   Russian tennis star Mirra Andreeva completed a breakout run at the French Open on Saturday, defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 to capture her first Grand Slam title at age 19. Andreeva, who was already regarded as a prodigy after emerging on the WTA Tour as a teenager, became the youngest women’s singles champion since Monica Seles, who was 18 when she won her third straight French Open in 1992. Ranked eighth in the world, she controlled the final in Paris, taking command after dropping just a few early games. The match shifted decisively when Andreeva won nine consecutive games to seize control, eventually closing out the victory with a backhand winner on match point before falling to her knees in celebration on the clay.  LAGOS BADAGRY CARRIAGEWAY RECONSTRUCTION: LASG DIVERTS TRAFFIC FOR REPAIR OF SECTIONS ON SERVICE LANE BETWEEN ALAGBA, BAALE JUNCTION (BADAGRY BOUND)


The Lagos State Government has announced planned repair works on the stretch of Iganmu Bridge (Lagos Bound), Eric Moore, Babs Animashaun and Baale Junction (Badagry Bound) along the Lagos-Badagry Carriageway.


The repair work will be done in Phases, with phase I - stretching from Alagba Junction to Baale Junction on Service Lane (Badagry Bound) commencing from Sunday, 22nd December, 2024 to Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025.


 


Motorists are enjoined to use alternative routes as follows:


1.  Motorists inward Orile Community from Iganmu Bridge on the Service Lane will be diverted to Alagba Street to link Imalenfe-Alafia Street to connect Savage Lane to Baale Street, down to Kekere-Ekun Street/Tokosi Street to access Lagos-Badagry Expressway to continue their journeys.


 


2.  Motorists from Iganmu Bridge to Apapa-Oshodi Expressway will continue their journeys on Toll Lane to exit at Coker to link Akinwande Street to connect Apapa-Oshodi Expressway to access their destinations.


 


3.  Similarly, Motorists from the Iganmu Bridge heading to the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway will continue on Toll Lane to link the Alaba Interchange Bridge to connect Apapa-Oshodi Expressway to continue their journeys.


 


4.  Traffic from Iganmu Bridge heading to Badagry will continue their journey on the Toll Lane.


For this period, Motorists on the other side of the expressway from Badagry will have through traffic inbound Lagos.


Traffic diversion for other phases will be announced by the Ministry of Transportation when due.


ADVISORY: - Motorists are implored to be patient as the diversion is part of the traffic management plans for the rehabilitation work on the asphalt pavement of the road sections by the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure (Office of Infrastructure, Lagos State).
