Governor Uba Sani Breaks 20-Year Jinx, Commissions Kagarko Township Road

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has commissioned the Kagarko township road, just three months after it was flagged off, bringing relief and excitement to residents of the Local Government Area following two decades of unfulfilled promises.

The road was inaugurated on Monday as part of activities marking Governor Sani’s second anniversary in office.

During the event, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to closing the infrastructure gap between urban and rural communities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sani described the road as a key component of his campaign pledge to fast-track rural development across the state.

“This is one of the most important local governments in Kaduna State, and we are determined to implement critical projects, especially roads, hospitals, and other essential infrastructure that will improve the lives of the people of Kagarko,” he said.

The Governor noted that his administration had embarked on 79 road projects across the state, covering a total of approximately 780 kilometers. Of these, 25 projects have been completed, including the newly unveiled Kagarko township road.

“This road will not only link markets and communities to key facilities like hospitals and schools, but it will also support our farmers in accessing their farmlands and make movement between homes, farms, and healthcare centers easier,” he added.

Governor Sani also revealed that over ₦400 million has been allocated for an electrification project aimed at restoring power to the area, which has been without electricity for years.

“I’m proud to announce that we’ve invested over ₦400 million to ensure lasting electrification that will reach every home. The project is expected to be completed within the next one or two months,” he stated.

He further emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses in driving economic prosperity, job creation, and poverty reduction, critical factors in addressing insecurity in the state.

The Governor commended traditional, religious, and youth leaders for their role in maintaining peace and harmony in Kagarko, noting that their cooperation has been pivotal to achieving progress.

“For me, peace and unity are more important than anything else. Without them, infrastructural development like what we’re witnessing today would not be possible,” he said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Kagarko Local Government, Hon. Muhydeen Abdullahi, praised Governor Sani’s intervention, stating that for over 20 years, successive administrations had failed to construct even a single kilometer of road in the area.

“This road is a lifeline for the people of Kagarko. It enhances transportation, boosts economic activities, and connects us more effectively to the rest of the state,” Abdullahi said.

He also lauded the state government's efforts to restore electricity to the local government, which has been in total blackout for nearly three years.

“We are optimistic that in the coming days, Kagarko will be fully reconnected to the national grid,” he added.
