ADC Chairman David Mark Vows to Uphold Party Constitution, Signals Robust Political Reforms

The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has reaffirmed his commitment to strictly adhering to the party’s constitution while promising zero tolerance for anti-party activities. Speaking through Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) representative for Katsina Central, during a Coalition Partners meeting in Kaduna over the weekend, Mark emphasized the ADC’s dedication to fostering internal democracy to address Nigeria’s governance challenges.

Mark, a former Senate President, hailed the Kaduna State chapter’s leadership for setting a commendable example for other states. He assured members and coalition partners of a level playing field, urging them to remain united and proactive. “It will not be business as usual,” he declared, signaling a shift towards greater transparency and accountability within the party.

On membership registration, Mark guaranteed a free, fair, and credible process, with mechanisms in place to prevent manipulation and safeguard the party’s reputation. He attributed Nigeria’s governance woes to a lack of internal democracy in political parties and stressed that the ADC is working diligently to provide an inclusive platform for all.

Kaduna State ADC Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, reported a surge in party membership since the coalition’s launch. Addressing the state of the nation, Ambut criticized the APC’s leadership since 2015, stating, “Nigeria and Nigerians have never had it so bad—politically, economically, socially, and even psychologically.” He positioned the ADC-led coalition as a vital platform to drive the political change Nigeria desperately needs.

Salihu Lukman, a former APC chieftain now with the ADC, echoed these sentiments, accusing the APC of failing to deliver good governance. He highlighted the rising poverty, insecurity, and hunger plaguing Nigerians, underscoring the ADC’s mission to provide a genuine alternative for transformative change.

The ADC’s renewed focus on constitutional integrity and democratic principles signals its ambition to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape as it prepares for future elections.
