No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

Former NY Jets star Nick Mangold dies from kidney disease complications

Former New York Jets star Nick Mangold has died at age 41 due to complications from kidney disease.

The Jets announced Mangold’s passing on Sunday, less than two weeks after he publicly revealed he was battling a rare genetic disorder and had begun kidney dialysis. Jets owner Woody Johnson praised Mangold as “the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade” and a “beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football.”

Mangold, a seven-time Pro Bowler, had shared on October 14 that he urgently needed a kidney donor, noting that none of his family members were a match. A first-round pick out of Ohio State in 2006, he became a cornerstone of the Jets’ offense, forming the celebrated “Nick & Brick” duo with left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Together, they helped guide New York to multiple playoff appearances under coach Rex Ryan, including back-to-back AFC Championship games.

Known for his larger-than-life personality, Mangold became a fan favorite, even opening a beer during his 2022 Jets Ring of Honor induction speech. After retiring, he coached in New Jersey, expressing a desire to “mold boys into men and teach the game of football — but also teach them a little bit about life as you go along.”

Mangold is survived by his wife, Lauren, and their four children: Matthew, Eloise, Thomas, and Charlotte.
