No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

Panama seizes 13 tons of cocaine on ferry headed for US

Panamanian authorities announced on Tuesday that they seized a massive shipment of cocaine bound for the United States from a ferry in the Pacific, coinciding with increased U.S. anti-drug military operations in Latin America. Prosecutor Julio Villareal said the operation, conducted on Monday, recovered about 13.2 tons of cocaine and resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals. Officials described it as one of the largest drug seizures in Panamanian waters to date.

Images released by the prosecutor’s office showed 11,562 packages of cocaine, with detainees including Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, and Nicaraguans. The ferry had departed from Colombia, a major source of cocaine destined for the United States. Panama, a key transit hub for narcotics, recorded 119 metric tons of drug seizures in 2023. The announcement comes amid heightened scrutiny of U.S. strikes on alleged drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean and Pacific, which have resulted in at least 76 deaths. Similar large-scale seizures have occurred globally in recent months, including operations by Spain, France, Pakistan, and the U.S. Coast Guard, highlighting the ongoing international effort to curb cocaine trafficking.
