Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine.  Texas woman faces sentencing today for threatening judge in Trump criminal case

Abigail Shry is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday in Houston for making a violent, racist, and vulgar threat to U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan in August 2023. The call came just hours after Chutkan was assigned to oversee former President Trump’s criminal case tied to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, which included the January 6 Capitol riot.

Shry, 45, pleaded guilty in November 2024 to transmitting an interstate threat. According to federal court filings, she left a voicemail threatening to kill anyone “who went after President Trump,” referred to Chutkan with racial slurs, and made threats against a Texas Democratic congresswoman, Democrats generally, and the LGBTQ community. The voicemail also included a warning that if Trump did not win the 2024 election, “we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly.” Investigators traced the call to Shry’s cell phone.

During the investigation, Shry admitted to making the call but claimed she had no immediate plans to carry out her threats, though she suggested potential danger if the targeted congresswoman visited her city. Her sentencing had been postponed multiple times, and while she faces a maximum of five years in prison, federal sentences are typically shorter than the maximum. Shry was previously detained briefly but later released under conditions barring her from possessing firearms or consuming alcohol. The sentencing will be presided over by Judge Keith Ellison in Houston.
