 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump.  World Health Day: Nwora Reaffirms Commitment to Improved Healthcare in Onitsha North

The Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Tony Nwora, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery as the world marks World Health Day.


In a statement commemorating the day, Nwora commended residents for their cooperation during recent health facility assessments, noting that community support remains vital to improving public health services.


He said that his administration has recorded progress in the health sector, including the renovation of selected healthcare centres and the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery across the local government.


The mayor emphasized that ongoing efforts are focused on expanding access to quality healthcare and sustaining improvements already achieved. He also encouraged residents to take proactive steps in monitoring their health and making use of available medical facilities.


Nwora reiterated that his government would continue to prioritize healthcare development, stressing that improved health outcomes are essential to the overall wellbeing and growth of the community.


World Health Day is observed annually to raise awareness on key health issues and promote actions that support better health for all.
