That’s Not Fair - Kim Kardashian Says Prisoners Who Fought L.A. Wildfires Were Paid 'Just a Few Dollars,' and She Wants to Change That A renewed push for prison labor reform is gaining attention, with Kim Kardashian stepping in to support new legislation aimed at changing how incarcerated workers are paid. The bill, reintroduced on March 19 by Cory Booker, seeks to ensure that people working while incarcerated receive at least the federal minimum wage. It also proposes limits on deductions for fees, fines, and living costs within correctional facilities, through amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Kardashian, who has increasingly focused on criminal justice reform, explained that her support is rooted in what she witnessed during the Los Angeles wildfires.  “I personally watched incarcerated people who risked their lives battling the massive wildfires,” she said, pointing out that many were paid only a few dollars a day despite doing the same high-risk work as profess...

TRUMP WARNS HE MAY INVOKE INSURRECTION ACT TO STOP MINNEAPOLIS PROTESTS. (PHOTO).

Trump warns he may invoke Insurrection Act to stop Minneapolis protests

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned that he could invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy federal troops to Minneapolis in response to ongoing protests over the presence of federal officers enforcing the administration’s immigration policies. The threat follows a recent shooting in which a federal immigration officer wounded a Minneapolis man who allegedly attacked him with a shovel and broom handle. Tensions in the city have been high since Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents fatally shot Renee Good, escalating public anger and protests across the community.
Trump said in a social media post that if Minnesota officials fail to control “professional agitators and insurrectionists” targeting ICE agents, he would quickly implement the Insurrection Act, a law historically used by presidents to deploy the military domestically. Federal authorities say they have made over 2,000 arrests in Minnesota since early December and are maintaining their enforcement operations. Minneapolis streets have seen repeated clashes, with protesters throwing rocks and fireworks while officers deploy tear gas. Officials describe the gatherings as unlawful, though Mayor Jacob Frey and Gov. Tim Walz have criticized the scale and tactics of the federal presence, saying it has unsettled residents.
The recent shooting occurred after federal officers stopped a driver who fled and crashed a vehicle, later being confronted by three people. An officer fired in self-defense, leaving the man with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, ICE officer Jonathan Ross, who killed Good, reportedly suffered internal injuries during that encounter. The killing sparked nationwide outrage and prompted comparisons to previous incidents of police violence in Minneapolis. Good’s family has retained legal representation experienced in high-profile civil rights cases. Demonstrations in the city have continued, reflecting deep anger over federal enforcement actions and the escalation of violence in the community.
