 Kenya orders closure of small-scale businesses owned by foreigners Kenyan President William Ruto ordered authorities to begin shutting down small businesses operated by foreign nationals from Monday, Sept. 7, saying hawking and small-scale retail should be reserved for Kenyans. Speaking to micro, small and medium enterprise traders at State House in Nairobi, Ruto said Kenya welcomes foreign investment but argued that foreigners should not compete with citizens in businesses requiring little capital. "From next week, all traders doing those small businesses should close them," Ruto said, Anadolu Agency reported. "We have made efforts to improve the economy, we have not improved investor confidence for hawkers to come to Kenya," he added. ‘Prioritising Kenyan citizens’ Ruto said the government would push ahead with legislation aimed at defining areas of economic activity that should prioritise Kenyan citizens.

 NIPSS SECURITY OPERATIVES FOIL ATTEMPT TO BREACH ITS PERIMETER, ONE SUSPECT KILLED 


The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, security  operatives have successfully foiled another attempt by unidentified armed assailants to breach the Institute’s security perimeter .


A statement by Osime Samuel Head, Public Affairs

National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru says, the attackers engaged security operatives in a gun duel but were forced to retreat following the swift and coordinated response of the security forces. 


One of the assailants was neutralised during the encounter, while others were reported to have escaped with varying degrees of injuries.


The Institute is pleased to report that there was no breach of the security perimeter. All participants, staff, residents and Institute facilities remain safe and secure.


Security agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while surveillance and other proactive security measures have been further strengthened within and around the Institute.


The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies reassures participants, staff, their families and the general public that the security of lives and property remains its highest priority. The Institute appreciates the prompt response and professionalism of the security agencies and urges the public to disregard any misinformation capable of causing anxiety.
