Kenya orders closure of small-scale businesses owned by foreigners Kenyan President William Ruto ordered authorities to begin shutting down small businesses operated by foreign nationals from Monday, Sept. 7, saying hawking and small-scale retail should be reserved for Kenyans. Speaking to micro, small and medium enterprise traders at State House in Nairobi, Ruto said Kenya welcomes foreign investment but argued that foreigners should not compete with citizens in businesses requiring little capital. "From next week, all traders doing those small businesses should close them," Ruto said, Anadolu Agency reported. "We have made efforts to improve the economy, we have not improved investor confidence for hawkers to come to Kenya," he added. ‘Prioritising Kenyan citizens’ Ruto said the government would push ahead with legislation aimed at defining areas of economic activity that should prioritise Kenyan citizens.

U.S. Central Command said the latest strikes targeted Iranian air defense positions, radar systems and maritime assets. The attacks came just two days after U.S. forces resumed military operations following a month-long pause, raising concerns that the renewed fighting could develop into a broader regional conflict. The escalation has also contributed to a sharp increase in global oil prices and created political challenges for Republicans ahead of the November midterm elections. Woods appeared in Martin County court and accepted the reduced charge. A judge suspended his driver’s license for five years. Woods also pleaded no contest to refusing to submit to testing and was ordered to pay court costs. The 50-year-old golfer spoke little during the hearing and sat at the defense table before looking toward the courtroom gallery. He arrived with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who sat behind him during the proceedings. Woods left the courthouse without speaking to reporters. Trump previously said Phelan's departure was connected to conflicts within the Pentagon over the Navy's shipbuilding and acquisition plans, although he said the disagreements did not involve Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The Secretary of the Navy is the service's highest-ranking civilian official. Along with the Chief of Naval Operations, the Navy's top military officer, the secretary oversees the training and equipping of the Navy and Marine Corps but does not direct combat operations. Trump praised Cao as a strong milita...
