 Jury in Lindsay Clancy trial says it cannot reach unanimous verdict in children’s killings  Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial told the judge Tuesday that they had been unable to reach a unanimous decision on whether the Massachusetts mother should be held criminally responsible for killing her three young children in 2023. The announcement came near the beginning of the jury’s fourth day of deliberations and marked the first indication that the panel had reached an impasse. Judge William Sullivan instructed the jurors to continue deliberating after they reported they could not agree. Clancy remained seated and looked toward the jury as Sullivan addressed the panel. The judge noted the length and complexity of the trial, which included more than 80 witnesses and more than 300 exhibits. President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as his brother and partner in steering the ship of the Nigeria state. 

 

In a personally signed statement, President Tinubu notes "I rejoice with the Vice President's wife, Nana, children, family and political associates on this important milestone."

 

He adds, "Kashim is not just a trusted ally or a valued colleague, but also a patriot whose life has been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes."

 

The President maintains that in celebrating Kashim's birthday, he also celebrates his distinguished banking career and exemplary record of service to Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.

 

It notes that Shettima's unwavering commitment to the nation's progress and unity is particularly worthy of mention and commends him for his years of dedicated public service, first as Governor of Borno State and subsequently as Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

 

It adds that in both capacities, Kashim has demonstrated courage, diligence, compassion and an abiding commitment to improving the lives of the people.

 

The President acknowledges, in particular, Vice President Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), support for the administration and his unwavering dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

 

It further discloses that as Chairman of the National Economic Council, Shettima has provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policy and fostering collaboration among the Federal Government and the sub-nationals.

 

His respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, and dialogue and consultation has helped strengthen good governance.
