The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), in line with its continuous commitment to improving health practices in the State, has issued a strong advisory to students in the field of aesthetic medicine.
The Provost of the College, Professor Raheem Akewushola, gave the advice while welcoming the 2025/26 set of Students in the aesthetic medicine department to the college for the last phase of their six-month training.
Professor Akewushola emphasised the need for students to adhere strictly to critical best practices, professional ethics and safety standards learned from their training in the college.
The Provost went on to say that the college admitted all applicants to the programme to contribute to the standardisation of the practice of aesthetic medicine in Nigeria, because students applied and were admitted to the College from different States in the Nation.
While commending the Course Co-ordinator, Dr. Felix Avajah, for his unending commitment to the programme, he emphasised that in-depth education and training are necessary for practitioners of aesthetic medicine in the State and the Nation as a whole in order to eradicate quacks from the practice and safeguard the lives of citizens from irreparable errors.
The Provost advised the Students that to practice successfully as aesthetic practitioners, who stand out as good ambassadors of the College, the Students must be well knowledgeable about the Body and the Skin, which is the largest organ of the Body.
Finally, Professor Akewushola reiterated strictly that the College does not train Students of Aesthetic Medicine on Invasive Surgeries or injectables. The training by the College, according to him, is strictly on non-invasive procedures. The College will therefore disclaim and distance itself from any Practitioner caught performing invasive procedures or injectables.
