The operation was launched following credible information on the abduction of the victims while they were working on the farm. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the joint security team mobilised to the area and closed in on the kidnappers’ location.   Ghana Launches App to Check If Someone is Already Married The Ghanaian Ministry of Gender has launched an application, Marrify, designed to help prospective couples verify their partners’ marital status before getting married. The app was unveiled at a launch ceremony in Ghana attended by Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the country’s Minister of Gender. Marrify was launched in collaboration with MarryRight, an agency specialising in family law and marriage. Speaking at the event, Lartey said the application would help couples make more informed decisions before entering marriage while promoting relationships built on respect and helping to prevent gender-based violence. Lartey said the launch provides couples with an opportunity to approach marriage with greater awareness and responsibility.

 ICTA Assesses 25 Anambra MDAs, Targets Stronger Digital Government By Angela Nwanodu The Anambra State ICT Agency (ICTA) has assessed about 25 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to determine their level of digital readiness and identify areas requiring intervention. The MDA and Compliance Unit reviewed government websites, official emails, digital records, online services, payment systems, data management, cybersecurity and compliance with ICT standards across key institutions. Unit Lead, Madam Chinyelu Odigbo, said the exercise would provide evidence to guide ICTA’s support, training and compliance interventions. “Government does not run on assumptions. It runs on evidence,” she said. Early findings have identified gaps in areas including NDPA 2023 compliance and records management.   23-year-old microbiology student becomes traditional ruler in Delta A 23-year-old Microbiology undergraduate at Delta State University, Abraka, Prince Daniel Afamefune Chukwujindu, has become the new traditional ruler of the Ekwuoma Kingdom in the Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State. Daniel, who succeeded his late father, King Chinedu Samuel Chukwujindu, was formally installed as the 11th Ajeh of Ekwuoma on Thursday. He assumed the royal title of Ezeagu-Ukpo II following the completion of the burial rites of his father, who was the 10th Ajeh, Ezeagu-Ukpo I. Education minister alleges NECO question papers were sold for as little as N3,000 before exams Minister of Education Dr Tunji Alausa has alleged that National Examinations Council (NECO) questions were previously sold for as little as N3,000 before candidates sat for the papers. Alausa made the disclosure on Thursday at a meeting with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and other education stakeholders. He described the scale of examination malpractice in Nigeria as “mind-boggling.” The minister warned parents, teachers, school proprietors, principals, invigilators and students against practices that undermine the integrity of public examinations. He said malpractice had been tolerated for years, creating an unfair system in which students who prepared genuinely were disadvantaged by those who obtained leaked questions in advance. FAAN Denies Responsibility for Uber’s Exit from Nigeria The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has denied claims that it was responsible for Uber’s decision to discontinue its ride-hailing operations in Nigeria. FAAN Managing Director, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, made the clarification on Friday, saying Uber’s exit was based on the company’s own economic and regulatory considerations. Kuku said FAAN had no role in the decision, adding that the authority’s primary responsibility was to ensure passenger safety and provide a seamless travel experience at Nigerian airports. “I can’t speak to Uber’s exit from Nigeria. I am sure they have their own economic and regulatory decisions as to why they chose to exit,” she said. Explosion as Boko Haram targets convoy of Borno APC governorship candidate The convoy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Borno State, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, has been ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. DailyTrust reports that the incident occurred on Thursday evening, September 3, as the candidate and his entourage were returning to Maiduguri after a thank-you visit to the border town of Damasak,  a border town that is about 190km from Maiduguri, the state capital. A Nigerian man, Olusegun Onidare, has been arrested and charged over alleged sexual assault of two women in separate incidents that occurred in the municipality of Brampton, Ontario, Canada.  ICPC Dismisses Security Officer Over Unauthorised Access Granted El-Rufai’s Wife The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dismissed a security officer accused of facilitating unauthorised access to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, by one of his wives, Aichatou Assabe El-Rufai, while he was in the commission’s custody. The officer, identified as Daniel Stephen and attached to the ICPC’s internal security team, was reportedly captured on CCTV assisting Assabe to gain access to the commission’s premises on July 5, 2026, outside the approved visitor access procedure. According to a report by TheCable, Stephen admitted to his involvement in a handwritten statement submitted to an investigation panel.  Court Remands Ifeanyi Ogbonna, ‘Odogwu Asaba,’ Over Late Favour’s Case The High Court has remanded Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, at the Ogwashi Uku Maximum Correctional Centre following an application heard and granted by the court on Friday, September 4, 2026. The development comes after the autopsy and toxicology test results in the case involving the late Favour were made available to the police investigation team. According to the lawyer representing Favour’s family, the results, alongside other evidence and facts gathered during the investigation, have been included in the investigation report prepared for the prosecution and trial of the case. She received lifesaving emergency care under the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care (CEmONC) programme at no cost to her family and was discharged on 11th August 2026.
