Jennifer Meyer is embracing motherhood all over again, and the jewelry designer says this pregnancy has brought a completely different feeling compared to when she had her first two children.
The 49-year-old, who is expecting her third child and her first with fiancé Geoff Ogunlesi, recently opened up about the emotional experience of becoming pregnant again later in life.
According to Jennifer, finding out she was expecting felt almost surreal.
“I kind of feel like a little kid waiting for a dream gift,” she shared, describing the excitement she felt after learning the news.
Jennifer first announced the pregnancy in December through social media. She already shares daughter Ruby, 19, and son Otis, 16, with ex-husband Tobey Maguire.
This time around, she says, things feel very different.
Back when she had her older children, she was younger and one of the first among her friends to become a parent.
Now, with more life experience and two teenagers already at home, she says she approaches pregnancy with a calmer mindset and a better understanding of what to expect.
Even so, she admitted it can be more physically demanding now than it was years ago.
Still, Jennifer said she has been feeling strong and grateful throughout the pregnancy.
“It’s definitely more exhausting at this stage,” she explained, “but honestly, I feel really good.”
One of the moments that meant the most to her was sharing the news with Geoff.
Jennifer admitted she initially felt cautious because of her age, but said the experience became even more special because of the support and positivity he brought into the situation.
She described him as someone who naturally believes things will work out, adding that his attitude helped ease her fears and made the moment feel warm and comforting.
At home, the pregnancy has also brought a new dynamic with her older children.
Jennifer said Ruby and Otis were sweet and supportive when they found out they would soon have a younger sibling.
At the same time, she laughed that they are still teenagers navigating their own busy lives, friendships, relationships and future plans.
“They’re excited,” she shared, “but they’re also focused on what’s happening in their own world right now, which is very normal.”
