 Court Jails Fake Spiritualist  for Sextortion  in Abuja  Justice C.N. Nwabulu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, convicted and sentenced a fake spiritualist, Solomon Odigie Moses, to one year imprisonment. Moses was arraigned on one-count charge bordering on cheating and posing as a spiritualist, thereby defrauding and obtaining the sum of $1,100(One Thousand, One Hundred United States Dollars) from an Indian lady seeking spiritual healing. Moses, who was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo state, received and laundered the $1100, via his Zelle payment platform, and the Naira equivalent was paid into his local bank account. The convict subsequently deceived her into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he recorded live without her permission, and thereafter blackmailed her to send him money, else he would make the video public.   School Fire Turns Deadly As At Least 20 Students Die In Stampede At least 20 students were killed and several others seriously injured after a fire broke out at two primary schools in Bukavu, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at Ujamaa and Furaha primary schools in the Chimpunda district of South Kivu’s provincial capital at around 8 a.m. local time. According to local authorities, some of the students died in a stampede as they attempted to escape the flames. Several others reportedly suffered serious burns and smoke inhalation and were taken to nearby health facilities in critical condition.  An officer operating a drone, miles away, allowed a fellow officer to rescue a 5-year-old child who was literally seconds from drowning. A 5-year-old boy in St. Paul, Minnesota, had wandered away from his home on Monday. The child, whose parents say is on the spectrum, like many others who face his special challenges, had wandered into a nearby body of water. In a stroke of luck, a passerby spotted the child struggling in the water. For reasons undisclosed, the witness dialed 911 rather than attempting to rescue the child.  Understanding the gravity of the situation, officers were immediately dispatched.   ONE DEAD, TWO RESCUED AFTER BUILDING COLLAPSE DURING DEMOLISION IN LAGOS One person has died and two others have been rescued alive after a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition partially collapsed in Aboru, Lagos. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the incident occurred around midnight at No. 42 Governors Road, Aboru, in the Alimosho area. Its emergency response team arrived after receiving a distress call and found workers trapped beneath the rubble. Two adult males were rescued and given first aid before being taken to a nearby health facility for further medical attention. Another adult male was recovered dead from beneath the collapsed structure. LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS are jointly handling the rescue and recovery operation. The agency has urged residents and developers to comply with building regulations and engage certified professionals for demolition and construction activities.

 A 20-year-old man was celebrating his birthday when an explosion took the lives of both him and his mother from "blast related Injuries." Liam O'Sullivan and his mother, 46-year-old, Sarah O'Sullivan, had left their Essex Junction, Vermont, home on the evening of Saturday, September 5th.  The mother-son duo traveled to Granville, where family members had met to celebrate Liam on his special day. Sadly, a leaking propane tank would cause the next family get-together to be a much more somber event. At approximately 7:45 p.m., as the family was enjoying the evening of celebration, a spark caused the propane tank to explode with fatal force, unfortunately.  In a twist of fate, Liam and Sarah were directly impacted by the full force of the blast. The two suffered grievous, fatal injuries. Another woman attending Liam's birthday party also suffered serious injuries from the explosion.  69-year-old Shelia Hammond was close by and received devastating injuries.   ...

In the petition signed by his Chief of Staff and made available to the media by his Special Assistant, Jackson Udom, Akpabio urged the DSS to urgently investigate and identify those responsible for creating and circulating the graphic. The graphic falsely attributes to him a statement claiming that Northerners would be the hardest hit if President Bola Tinubu loses an election. Akpabio’s office says the statement is completely fabricated, noting that there is no video, audio, speech or credible report to substantiate the claim. It also accused those behind the graphic of attempting to mislead the public and provoke regional tension. The Senate President has therefore called on security agencies to trace the origin of the graphic and identify those responsible for its distribution.

SANWO-OLU APPOINTS VICE-CHANCELLOR FOR LASU Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor BADEJO Ayodeji Olawumi (Nee Faji) as Vice- Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU). Prof. BADEJO Ayodeji Olawunmi, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, was born on August 4, 1962.  She obtained a Ph. D in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and M. Ed. Algeria said on Thursday it had decided to ‌sever diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates after what it described as a series of "provocative or hostile" actions by Abu Dhabi despite "repeated warnings". The foreign ministry said the UAE's actions had reached a point where they could no longer be considered acceptable or tolerable and that it ​had "exhausted all means of preserving bilateral relations." The UAE ambassador was summoned to ⁠the ministry, informed of the decision and given 48 hours to comply, the foreign ​ministry said, Reuters reported.
