Kenyan lawyers boycott courts over alleged judicial corruption Kenyan lawyers staged a nationwide boycott of court proceedings on Wednesday to protest alleged judicial corruption and chronic delays. Cases in the East African nation take an average of two years to conclude, according to official records, with lawyers blaming graft and systemic inefficiencies. "The court boycott is going on in courts across the country, with many lawyers heeding the call," Charles Kanjama, the president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), told reporters. However, the judiciary said that accountability mechanisms already exist through the Judicial Service Commission and the Office of the Judiciary Ombudsman, where complaints against judges and judicial officers can be lodged and investigated, according to a statement released prior to the boycott.  Kathy Griffin compares America to 'Squid Game,' claims billionaires like Donald Trump and Elon Musk are watching from 'their gallery'

Comedian Kathy Griffin recently compared the state of America to the Netflix hit Squid Game, suggesting that billionaires such as Jeff Bezos, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Vladimir Putin, Mark Zuckerberg, and others resemble the masked elites who watch ordinary people struggle for survival.

In her Instagram post, Griffin argued that the country is increasingly resembling the dystopian series, which first aired in 2021 and depicted desperate contestants risking their lives in deadly competitions for a massive cash prize.

Many of her followers echoed her sentiment, commenting that the comparison felt accurate and reflective of current societal conditions.

In a subsequent post, Griffin hinted at her involvement in upcoming demonstrations, noting that she had organized a group of supporters and would even be speaking at one of the events.

While she did not directly name the “No Kings” protests, her history of participation in the movement makes the connection clear.

Back in October 2025, she led chants at a Malibu rally, joining thousands of others across the country in opposing what they viewed as authoritarian tendencies.

Her activism has consistently emphasized the importance of democratic values and resistance to concentrated power.

Griffin’s political engagement also extends to her local community in North Carolina, where she has described her town as a liberal enclave surrounded by Trump supporters.

Despite the ideological divide, she expressed pride in seeing residents take to the streets in solidarity.

For her, these demonstrations are not only about resisting authoritarianism but also about celebrating grassroots democracy.

By drawing parallels to Squid Game and participating in nationwide protests, Griffin continues to use her platform to spotlight issues of inequality, power, and civic responsibility.
