 ABU Vice-Chancellor Hosts 100 Students To Lunch, Urges Them To Look Beyond Certificates The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, has hosted 100 students to a lunch, urging them to look beyond academic certificates and focus on creating value and making meaningful contributions to society. The students participated in the university’s Lunch with the Vice-Chancellor programme held at the weekend, where Prof. Ahmed interacted with the select group and discussed the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities awaiting them both within and beyond the university. The Vice-Chancellor said the university would sustain the annual programme because its greatest strength lies in its people. “A university is not only its buildings, laboratories, and lecture halls; it is, above all, its people,” he said.  FG TO DEVELOP NEW POLICY ON STRENGTHENING PALM OIL PRODUCTION FOR SELF SUFFICIENCY


The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has announced that the government is developing a new policy aimed at strengthening palm oil production and reducing Nigeria’s over-dependence on the importation of the product.


Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, stated that the initiative is expected to generate $500 million in annual import savings, revive the palm oil sub-sector, and promote food sovereignty in the country.


In a message delivered at a workshop organised by the ministry in collaboration with key stakeholders in the palm oil industry, the Minister said the proposed policy and programme would provide institutional coordination and policy support for agriculture-linked manufacturing and large-scale plantation development across the project’s operational areas.
