 Sharon Stone reveals how her family went from wealth to poverty Sharon Stone recently reflected on her family’s history, revealing that while her lineage traces back to royalty and figures like Charlemagne, her upbringing was marked by hardship.  Appearing on Finding Your Roots in 2025, she learned of her ancestral ties to powerful leaders, but on The Drew Barrymore Show she explained that her father’s side of the family lost its wealth after a tragic accident. Stone shared that her relatives had been early oil drillers in Pennsylvania, but when a well exploded and killed the men involved, the fortune bypassed the women in the family due to discriminatory laws at the time.  Instead, the money went to an 18-year-old male relative, leaving her grandmother and her children with nothing.  GOV. ALIA OPENS NATIONAL LEARNING ASSESSMENT 2026 IN MAKURDI, HOSTS SIX-STATE TECHNICAL TEAM


Governor Hyacinth Alia on Monday declared open the National Learning Assessment 2026 meeting held at the headquarters of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Makurdi, Benue State, where a technical team drawn from six states is participating in the exercise aimed at improving education data and learning outcomes.


The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Dr Margaret Adamu, said the assessment is critical for generating reliable data to support student development and education planning. She highlighted ongoing reforms in the state’s education sector, including free and compulsory basic education from Primary 1 to Junior Secondary School 3 and the renovation of public schools. The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr Grace Adagba, welcomed the delegation and assured full support for the exercise. States participating include Benue, Oyo, Gombe, Delta, Enugu, and Jigawa.


The UBEC-led assessment team is expected to visit Adoka and other communities during its fieldwork in Benue. Stakeholders at the event commended the collaboration, describing it as part of broader efforts to strengthen accountability and improve learning standards across basic education in the state. The government also assured participants of safety and a conducive environment for the exercise.
